WHAT IS FOC

The Faculty of Computing (FoC) is the 9th faculty of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka (SUSL), with an annual intake above 280 students. Our faculty consists of three academic departments, including three degree programs: Computing and Information Systems, Software Engineering and Data Science along with numerous units and committees dedicated to producing educated and cultured individuals for a better society. The curriculum of three degree programs is designed according to the principles set forth by the Association for Computing Machinery/Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (ACM/IEEE-CS). And also, the industrial training period basically helps individuals choose the best career path that suits.

WHAT IS ICARC

International Conference on Advanced Research in Computing is an academic conference organized by the Faculty of Computing at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. The conference aims to provide a platform for academics, students, and industry professionals to share and discuss the latest advancements, research, and developments in the field of computing. ICARC typically covers a wide range of topics and tracks within computing, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Internet of Things, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, and Digital Transformation.

WHAT IS WIE (SUSL)

WIE is a global professional organization that supports women in engineering and science and encourages girls to pursue a career in the IT industry. Our main goal is to encourage young girls all around the world to get academic interests in science and engineering and to support and uplift female scientists and engineers. We support women’s enrollment and advancement in technical professions globally. Through the WIE organization, members have the opportunity to be involved in various kinds of activities like technical conferences, outreach programs to young women, and mentoring and networking programs. This actually helps to reduce the gender gap that prevails within this field of IT and encourage the women to acquire new career paths. Our vision at IEEE is to foster a vibrant community where individuals of all genders may come together to utilize their special abilities and skills for the benefit of humankind. The IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka is committed to empowering female students by improving their attitudes, cultivating soft skills to overcome societal barriers, and expanding their knowledge in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
